How We Pick and Rate OTT Movies and Series
How we pick and rate OTT movies and series comes down to one question: is this worth a viewer’s limited time, and can they actually watch it legally in India today? This page explains the method behind every list on TBA Daily.
How we pick and rate: the short version
- Availability first. A title only makes our lists if we can verify it on an official platform in India.
- Quality second. We weigh writing, performances, direction, pacing and how well the ending lands.
- Audience signals third. Public ratings such as IMDb guide us, but never decide alone.
- Variety always. Lists cover languages, moods and runtimes, not only the biggest names.
Step 1: Verify where it streams
Platform catalogues change often. We check the platform’s own page, official announcements and availability trackers such as JustWatch India before we write that a title is streaming. If we cannot confirm it, we say so instead of guessing.
Step 2: Watch or research the title
We base recommendations on the film or series itself, on credible reviews and on official cast and crew information. Plot details are kept spoiler-light.
Step 3: Compare against alternatives
Each pick is compared with similar titles in the same language and genre, so a list explains why one title beats another for a given mood.
How we handle ratings and rankings
| Signal | How we use it |
|---|---|
| Our editorial view | The main basis for ranking and inclusion |
| IMDb and public ratings | A cross-check, quoted as approximate and dated |
| Critic reviews | Context for strengths and weaknesses |
| Platform popularity | Never used to promote a title |

FAQs about how we pick and rate
Do platforms pay to be featured?
No. We do not accept payment for inclusion or ranking. Any advertising is labelled and kept separate, as explained in our advertising disclosure.
How often are lists updated?
Time-sensitive pages, such as weekly OTT releases, are refreshed regularly. Evergreen lists are reviewed when availability or release details change.
What if I spot a mistake?
